How to Piss Off Men: 106 Things to Say to Shatter the Male Ego - Kyle Prue

Sold.

It was quick and simple, providing succinct ways to passively aggressively get your point across to someone who is in need of having a reality check, or bringing down an ego peg or two. Most strategies are transferable. This was deliciously funny and I loved the chat with his mum at the end of the book, I want them to invite me over for a cheese and wine on the sofa night. The Last Truths We Told - Holly Watt (16 Jan 2025)

If you and all of your friends (minus the one that died), when you were twenty, all wrote predictions on where you would be in 20 years, what would it look like? Passive aggressive? Naïve? Hopeful? Or would they be riddled with desperation for the truth to come out? The Last Truths We Told is about the unveiling of these ‘truths’ over the course of a weekend at an old haunt of theirs, an opulent manor owned by one of the men in the group. I couldn’t put this down, it was so good. Ego’s at large, poignancy regarding who we are and what we could have been, and reflective of historical issues of patriarchal dominance and manipulation, even of those who are deemed intellectually superior. It just shows how nobody is exempt from coercive behaviour.

I would love to do similar predictions, even now, if only for 10 years. I’m all over it!

The Serial Killers Support Group - Saratoga Schaefer (18 March 2025)

Cyra, a fan of the recluse lifestyle whose sister has just been murdered, gets a tip that she could be the victim of a serial killer and decides to infiltrate a Serial Killer support group accessed by the dark web. When she succeeds, she is forced to explore why it was easier than she thought to gain access and fit in. While uncovering the mystery of her sister’s death, she uncovers so much more about the complex world of those who kill.

Is it wrong that I’m keen to try out the new stalking skills that I learnt from the support group? Not the murdering bits, obvs. This was definitely a recent favourite.
